EXCURSION FROM MARMARIS TO DALYAN

€29.00Price
  • Tour route

The excursion to Dalyan begins in the village of Koycegiz, located on the shore of the lake of the same name. From there you will go on a pleasure boat down the Dalyan River to the place where it flows into the Mediterranean Sea. Koycegiz is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Turkey. Not only fishermen come here, but also surfing and sailing enthusiasts.

A boat ride will give you the opportunity to admire the beautiful landscapes of pristine nature on the mountain slopes that stretch along the banks of the river, see rare species of trees and tropical flowers. The guide accompanying you will tell you stories and legends of ancient Lycia and the ancient cities of Kaunos and Kaunos. You will be able to see the remains of Lycian tombs and a necropolis, carved into the rocks at a great height, right from the boat.

    Thermal complex Sultaniye

The first stop on the route will be the Sultaniye geothermal springs and mud baths complex. This is one of the most popular, largest and oldest complexes. Thermal water and mud are therapeutic, their properties have been known for a long time, so people come here not only from all over Turkey, but also from all over the world. In addition to the health effect, they give a noticeable rejuvenating effect due to improved metabolism and increased overall tone of the body.

After taking mud baths and swimming in pools with mineral water, lunch will be waiting for you right on the boat. A delicious lunch in the open air with amazing mythical stories of these places will become another pleasant memory of this day.

    Iztuzu Nature Reserve

And then you will head to the Iztuzu Nature Reserve, or Turtle Beach. This is a long sand spit, which is washed on one side by the salty waters of the Mediterranean Sea, on the other by the fresh waters of Dalyan. But this is not the only thing that makes it unique.

This beach is the breeding ground for caretta sea turtles, who come here to lay their eggs and head back to the sea. So, if you're lucky, you'll be able to see both the giants themselves and the newly hatched turtles, who'll be taking their first steps towards the sea.

The turtles are so used to people here that they calmly make contact and even allow you to take a selfie with them. Iztuzu is also known as the only place in Turkey where blue crabs live. So you can try to catch these beauties yourself and even taste them. You will have enough time to swim, sunbathe, eat, and just walk along this incredibly beautiful sandy beach.

    Additionally

At the end of the walk you will return by boat to the village of Koycegiz. A bus will take you to Marmaris at approximately 19:00.
